THE PROGRESSIVE PROGRAM

LOWER SECONDARY: 11 TO 14 YEARS

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES

Lower Secondary Global Perspectives focuses on nurturing skills such as research, analysis, evaluation, reflection, collaboration, and communication. These skills are essential for academic success and personal growth, empowering pupils to become well-rounded individuals.

Through the Global Perspectives curriculum, pupils aged 11-14 explore a wide range of global issues, including social, political, economic, and environmental topics. They learn to think critically, investigate multiple perspectives, and develop informed opinions. The subject encourages pupils to conduct research, gather and analyse information, and present their findings effectively.

Collaboration is a key aspect of Global Perspectives, as pupils engage in group work, discussions, and debates. By working together, they enhance their collaborative skills and develop an appreciation for diverse viewpoints. Students are encouraged to reflect on their own values and beliefs, fostering a sense of global citizenship and motivating them to actively contribute to local and global communities.

The skills developed in Global Perspectives are highly transferable and valuable across various subject areas and future endeavours. The ability to conduct research, critically analyse information, and communicate effectively are sought-after skills in higher education and the professional world. Moreover, the subject instils a love for learning, equipping pupils with the skills necessary to navigate an ever-changing global landscape.
