The Edexcel IGCSE in Arabic offers a valuable opportunity for pupils to further develop their language skills, enabling them to demonstrate impressive proficiency in spoken and written Arabic. It serves as an excellent foundation for progression to A Level studies and is highly respected by universities as a challenging and esteemed qualification.

 

Within the Arabic course, pupils will engage in activities that encompass understanding spoken and written Arabic, as well as speaking and writing in the language fluently. The curriculum is structured around five key themes:

 

  • Identity and culture

  • Local area, holiday, travel

  • School

  • Future aspirations, study, and work

  • International and global dimension

 

These themes and topics are explored within the context of Morocco and other countries and communities where Arabic is spoken.

 

Arabic is a language that can open up numerous opportunities in the future, making it particularly suitable for pupils who envision themselves as global citizens. Studying Arabic not only broadens horizons but also promotes intercultural understanding. However, it is important to note that Arabic can be a challenging subject, and success requires dedication and responsibility in reviewing and practising language skills outside of lessons and designated study time. Similar to playing a musical instrument, proficiency in speaking a foreign language improves through consistent practice and active engagement.
