THE PROGRESSIVE PROGRAM
UPPER SECONDARY: 14 TO 19 YEARS
IGCSE Mathematics
Exam Board: Pearson Edexcel
IGCSE Mathematics is a compulsory subject, and all pupils are required to attend classes and sit exams in this discipline.
Aligned with the UK National Curriculum, the course encompasses a comprehensive range of mathematical topics, including numbers, algebra, ratios, proportions, rates of change, geometry, measures, probability, and statistics.
The Edexcel Mathematics IGCSE is a two-year program that culminates in written examinations conducted in the final year, typically during the summer. The IGCSE can be taken at either the Foundation or Higher level, with pupils being entered at the appropriate level based on their ability.
As this is a compulsory subject, pupils of all abilities undertake the course. EMC arranges mathematics classes into different sets or streams. This allows for differentiation in the tasks assigned, enabling pupils to progress at their own pace based on their individual abilities.
